Thecus has been on a winning streak lately with the introduction of some new products in their lineup. The N4200PRO proved to be a very competitive product and the introduction of the N8900 gave us power hungry enthusiasts with something to salivate over. Although the four bay N4200PRO delivered top notch performance and incorporated a built-in mini UPS, it was still missing something... another drive bay! Enter the Thecus N5200XXX.
Generally, many case makers like to feature top notch, expensive high end cases and seem to forget about the majority of people; those of us with a budget! The market is flooded with cheaply made, low cost cases that many just settle on purchasing because they can't afford cases by Lian Li, Silverstone, Zalman, or any of the other top end brand names. Recently, BitFenix has been making some waves by producing their Colossus with the soft touch element. Luckily for us, they want to continue their ways and offer a well designed inexpensive option for us named the Merc Alpha.
QNAP has limited the amount of resources dedicated to their NAS lineup when rebuilding a RAID array or performing rsync backups. The decision here was to limit the amount of impact these types of processes have on your system in order to maintain an acceptable level of responsiveness. This is very considerate of QNAP, however, I prefer a bit more control over my system and would like these processes to complete faster; well-knowing I will be sacrificing system responsiveness.
